Michigan Institute of Human Performance
The Michigan Institute for Human Performance (MIHP), founded by Sherry McLaughlin, MSPT, OCS, CSCS in 1998 is based on the principles of human movement. The Institute houses the MIHP Think Tank, a group of innovative Movement Training Specialists that design and implement solutions for the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. Triplaynar Technology is the methodology of the MIHP Think Tank and was developed to educate the general public about the body’s amazing design.
Triplaynar Technology trains movement by an interactive and restorative approach utilizing the three planes of motion the body moves in by design. Ms. McLaughlin developed and wrote the curriculum for pain and physical activity used in the MEDeCOACH courseware.
The University of Michigan Health Research Management Center
Established in 1976, The University of Michigan Health Risk Assessment, (HRA), is the most globally researched HRA over the past 20 years. The Center has collected health and lifestyle behavior data on over 2 million individuals and consulted with over 1,000 worksites. This extensive database makes the center the nation’s leading research facility in studying health risk reduction and worksite health management. The center has designed algorithms to identify the most health critical risks. Productivity and outcome measures are derived from the data collected. Dr. Dee Edington designed the concise Lifestyle Assessment for MEDeCOACH. The assessment has the same HRA algorithms used by the center for their research. This allows the center to perform outcomes and financial analysis for MEDeCOACH customers.
The Healthy Weigh
Founded by Caryn Honig, RD, LD, The Healthy Weigh, is a private practice located in Houston, Texas offering nutritional counseling, annual conferences and seminars for clients as well as University of Texas Health Science Center internships for dieticians. The Healthy Weigh specializes in weight management, sports nutrition and eating disorders. Ms. Honig, a Registered and Licensed Dietician with a double degree in Mass Communications and Speech Communications is a successful triathele.
Ms. Honig developed the curriculum and was the writer for the MEDeCOACH courseware regarding nutrition. She is the author of a monthly article for Running magazine and is a speaker for the Women’s Fund. ecently, Ms. Honig was inducted into the University of Denver Hall of Fame.
